PLOT
made by remi of rilla go! and adoxography
Hubris, the wizards had it in spades. Who wouldn't if for thousands of years you had managed to keep things a secret and the way that you wanted them? Maybe that was why they thought there was no need to rush. Maybe that was why the Obliviators were so content with the new method taught to deal with the muggle microchips for the internet that they installed directly into their brains. Sure, it took longer. But what need could they possibly have for a massive memory sweep? None, they thought, but that's hubris for you.
False heroes. What can you say more than that? We all thought it turned out okay. Werewolves organized and caused mayhem on a live Olympic broadcast, so much so we couldn’t hide it from the muggles. Then what? A mass mind sweep? Not without potential muggle casualities and a rousing speech from Ellsworth Palmer convincing the Wizengamot that it would be needlessly cruel. So a peace was forged. A hard-fought truce built on compromise and promise were made. Sure, muggles and wizards and all those other words are so insistent on division, but the truth is we’re all people in the end. That’s probably why the strain is starting to show.
It's probably why the werewolves are all holed up. Probably why the Minister for Magic and the muggle Prime Minister’s smiles are becoming more and more forced in every photo op. Five years of peace, but a lot of secrets kept, requests denied, and hate bred. That’s what people do after all. So which side will it be then? No, not who you think will win, silly! But which side are you on? Peace isn’t easily earned after all and I’m sure we’ll all be seeing our fair share of thestrals by the end.
