Rolo Liam Grant the basics full name • rolo liam grant nicknames • Rolls by Coralie only age • twenty-two birthday • april, 8, occupation • cursebreaker house • ravenclaw gender • male sexuality • heterosexual blood status • half-blood the appearance face claim • nicholas hoult height and weight •6'4&200 identifying features •a scar on his back from when he fell out of a tree and sliced himself on a tree branch when he was seven. overall appearance • Rolo stands fairly tall and has a some what athletic build. It's one that he's come out not out of a sense of personal pride or worry of appearance but instead of a worry of dying or letting his health slip out of his reach. His brown hair is only ever seen in a mirror by his blue eyes as he firmly believes in keeping it close cut and in it's proper form. This matches nicely he feels with the suits that he wears everyday to his job as he strives to look professional, if only because it might mean that he will feel that way also. When at home he may dress more leisurely but it's not something too many others would ever see. He lets his facial hair grow out a bit but normally shaves it before his scruff can get too thick. the personality likes • hot chocolate on a snowy day, traveling, his work, solving puzzles, reading, learning, being challenged, cooking, animals, and being the best at things. dislikes •the dead heat of summer, large crowds, sloppy dressing, being lost or not knowing what to do, social outtings, flying, and the uninformed who demand on expressing their opinions. strengths • confident, loyal to a fault, persistent, strong sense of justice, strong wand work, and hard working. weaknesses • paranoid, poor social skills, blunt and arrogant, terrified of heights, weak stomach after apparating, and arrogant. dreams • managing to live like a normal human being. fears • dying alone, heights, and not living a life worth living. overall personality •Rolo is one of those people who is the personification of don't judge a book by its cover. Not because he comes off as particularly evil and really has a heart of gold but because upon first glance it appears as if there is a very put together person in front of you, at least when he's at his job anyway. He can answer any question with confidence and some might even consider the ease at which he does so as charm but outside of work the boy is a bit of mess. Anxious and paranoid Rolo falls apart when the stakes are small. While proven to be able to come up big if pushed such occasions are rare and take a fair amount of coaching from himself to make them happen. Despite all this Rolo is still quite curious and exploring his surroundings as often as possible. The idea that there are still unknowns out there for him to possibly puzzle out are to intriguing him to pass up. While it takes a lot of internal coaching to do this also, Rolo manages. the history father • Tristan Andrew Grant, Forty-Six, lawyer deceased mother • Beatrice Felicity Grant, Forty-Two, Healer siblings • Coralie Grant, Eighteen, Quidditch Player important people/pets • orange british shorthair named Koriander Gabriella Ivanova hometown • Bristol, UK overall history • One thing that Beatrice Grant, formerly Beatrice Barnes, figured out early on in life was that sometimes, well most times really, things just kind of happened and you couldn't really expect them to occur any other way then the way that they did. Beatrice didn't expect to actually do as well as she did in school, especially given all the hub bub surrounding some of the muggle advancements at the time that served as ample distractions, but she still managed to get top marks on her N.E.W.T.s and pursue being a Healer like she wanted. She didn't expect to finally loosen up and relax that lead to a whirlwind of decisions. Like abandoning her normal very reasonable Ravenclaw sensibilities and falling for that cute muggle boy at the pub. Who in turn, or at the time she thought, only popped the question a year later because Beatrice got pregnant. Thankfully she found it charming for her sake and thankfully the heart attack that would kill poor sweet Tristan wouldn't take him until after he had given her another child and she had figured out that, thankfully, she did love him. Rolo Liam Grant would pop into the world rather unceremoniously on a drizzly April afternoon and immediately assume the attitude that he would have for the rest of his life, which just happened to be one of being very unimpressed by his surroundings. There was minimal crying and more of a wonder, or as much wonder as a newborn could have, for a flicker of a moment before it became clear he was totally and completely apparent that he was underwhelmed with his surroundings. So he waited. Waited until he could move and crawl and explore and find out just what he had been brought into. This underwhelming feeling was a recurrent theme in Rolo's life. One that he found to be tedious and troublesome but a theme none the less. His childhood was average at best and minus Coralie's presence once she had learned to walk and talk he found that people just really annoyed him. His sister and parents were the exception to this and once he realized that his mother was in fact magic there was a small glimmer of hope. At least that's how he viewed it as he waited to show signs of being actual magic himself. That was what Rolo craved really. He of course wouldn't have wanted to be magic if Coralie wasn't but at the same time he wanted the idea of the adventure. The idea of being able to do amazing things and go amazing places simply because he could. It was the reason summer holidays were his favorite because he and Coralie would load up backpacks and try to get lost wherever they could. While he didn't share his sisters garrulous nature they were still thick as thieves and still spent most of their time together even though they were opposites. They balanced each other out, that was all that mattered. After accidentally making a flower pot explode and making it very very evident that he did have some of his mum's spark in him Rolo dove into all her old school books. For lack of a better world Rolo was a nerd and would spend the next 10 years of his life with his nose resting very firmly in a book. When he arrived at Hogwarts he was an ugly duckling. Despite his active life style he was pudgy, clumsy, and very very socially awkward. Most conversations didn't start and it soon became very clear to Rolo that without Coralie there to buffer him he was going to offend, annoy, or just be too much for anyone to handle at any given time. He was blunt and rude and there was no too ways around it. He was smart though and that worked in his favor. So while Rolo spent the first three years occupying Hogwarts without his sister it was just like any other time she wasn't around, except this time there was a rather large library involved. Up until this point in his life Rolo had found that at best he was normally whelmed but in most cases he was underwhelmed. Everything to him was drab and pointless and kind of just lost it's shine after a few minutes. Hogwarts never had that effect on him. Hogwarts was like the gift that just kept on giving and had it not been for his sister being his best friend they would have had to drag Rolo kicking and screaming away from the school. Being overwhelmed was new, it was exciting, and most of all it was something that Rolo had wanted his whole life. Now he had it. Once Coralie arrived at Hogwarts and Rolo had a much needed growth spurt the castle was theirs for the taking. His last few years were marvelous at Hogwarts. While he didn't exactly make waves he managed to make two or three friends due to Coralie's meddling and explored every nook and cranny of the castle to the best of his ability. Much like his mother aced his O.W.L.s and N.E.W.T.s and was able to pursue being a Curse Breaker like he wished. While he was his mother's son he didn't have it in him to spend his life in one place. He knew he needed to go and do something and working for Gringotts provided such an avenue for him. It allowed him to make his own schedule and see the world as he pleased. So he became a Curse Breaker-In-Training and for the most part things were good. He got his own flat, got a pet, and was doing well at his job. Then, you know, life happened. The death of his father was sudden, a heart attack at work, and while they hadn't been close Rollo still felt it in a way he hadn't been expecting. His father was closer with Coralie, who was a wreck, but for the first time Rolo faced mortality. It seemed more real. More important that he get his job right and that he be proper. That was when the suits started. It was when he made an attempt to make friends at work. To try and get to know more around him besides his sister and the world. The problem is it isn't going well and while he's still succeeding at his job the social portion of his life isn't going all that great. So much for being a well-adjusted adult. The social aspect as expected has been difficult with Rolo making little headway, especially at work although there has been a little help in Gabriella Ivanova. Rolo isn't too sure what to make of the situation but he is hopeful and with a little coaching, maybe he won't blow it. the role player alias • rolo age •twenty-seven pronouns • he code • admin edit other characters • rian r. ryland and ellsworth f. palmer |
