It had only taken minimal nagging to get Elias to join Alice in her back to school shopping trip. Usually her and Annika went together, but it would seem that Annika had already went and done so without her… Perhaps because in a bit of a spat, Alice had told her to. Well, bygones and bygones and Alice was not about to go shopping for an armful of books and supplies alone. With Elias in the current best friend seat, he was honor bound to the job.
Alice would’ve preferred to take a stroll around muggle London, or perhaps return to her home of France for a day trip. Unfortunately, September 1st loomed closer and she could only procrastinate so long. So with a pouch of coins in her pocket (which she’d had to enchant to fit, well, anything… stupid jeans with their tiny pockets) and a list of supplies shoved haphazardly in the pouch as well, she was ready.
Within moments of entering Diagon Alley, Alice had drawn out her list and was scanning it with a key focus in her eyes. ”In theory I ought to get a new cauldron and robes but… Nah. Books and some quills and then call it done, maybe go get some ice cream or something?” She asked eagerly. She loved diagon alley, but she was excited to be done with all this school shopping. As much as Alice loved school, she did not enjoy spending money on books she cracked open twice during the year. Before Elias answered she took on a stern look and added ”It says right here on my school supply list, “get ice cream”” She said with a serious tone, carefully drawing the list closer to her body so that Elias couldn’t read it. |

Summer was nearing its end, and Elias couldn't have been more gutted. He had had plenty of awesome summers, but this one undoubtedly topped the list. Not only had he moved in with one of his best friends to a flat in Diagon Alley, but he also started working at his dream job and he regularly hung out with one of his other best friends. Unfortunately, after summer, one of those things would be changing. Alice would soon return to Hogwarts for her final year which meant that he wouldn't get to hang out with her nearly as much. The one upside to that was that he worked in Hogsmeade so it wasn't as if they would never see each other; they would have the weekends, at least.
Today, Alice dragged Eli to Diagon Alley; if she had been anyone else, he would have complained a whole lot more. Diagon Alley was hell this time of year because the streets were filled with mobs of procrastinating families and their crying, screaming children trying to buy those last-minute school supplies. Fortunately, Alice didn't seem too keen on shopping for more than a few items, and he certainly wasn't going to protest. "I think that's a great plan," he said. "I've never understood why people buy a new cauldron every year. It's not like they perish as soon as the term ends."
When Alice mentioned ice cream, Eli's ears perked up. Ice cream definitely would make this maddening albeit short shopping trip worth it. He grinned at her when she said ice cream was a requirement on the school supplies list. He peered his head closer to get a better look at the list, but she drew it tightly against her body. Laughing, Eli joked, "Funny how I never noticed that on my supply lists. But hey, I'm not complaining, although you're clearly buying my ice cream for forcing me out here in the pits of hell." Just as he said that, someone nearly bumped into him with a stroller. Elias jumped out of the way then turned toward Alice and gave her a frown. "I think I deserve two scoops of ice cream now." He walked with her toward the direction of the bookstore and quill shop, careful not to be run over again - or run over anyone else.
