Nearly five years have passed since the Battle of Hogwarts, and the wizarding world is nearing normalcy after the fall of Lord Voldemort and many of his followers. The Order is slowly hunting down the remaining at-large Death Eaters, and Kingsley Shacklebolt has temporarily replaced Pius Thicknesse as the Minister, beginning the process of cleaning out the Ministry of corruption with the support of the Order and limited support from the Ministry itself. The continued efforts of the Order allowed Hogwarts to re-open in the fall and, though the Golden Trio didn't return, many students did in order to finish their tenure.
However, Death Eater attacks and prejudices still persisted, and the Death Eaters found new allies in creatures such as werewolves, hags, and vampires, briefly overlooking blood status in favour of having lackeys, continuing to escape the law, and mounting their resistance. The most concerning blow to the Order and the burgeoning peace fell in January of 2003, when the Wizengamot declared that they were bound by law to 'elect' a new Minister for Magic, and Kingsley was forcefully ousted from his position. After much deliberation behind closed doors, the Wizengamot elected a new Minister: Margaret Bennet. On the face of it, their intentions seemed good. They vowed to help stop the remaining Death Eaters and their allies and make the country a safer place for all. However, their intentions are not so pure…
