| Although Elias' job, by and large, was not that stressful (every day he sat behind a desk and talked to a microphone for five hours), like everyone else, he looked forward to the clock's chime that signaled the start of the weekend. For him, his weekends began at 11 p.m. on Saturdays. After his final song played, he did his closing statements, hit the 'off' switch on the 'on air' button and gathered his things - scripts and an empty coffee cup - to make way for the next DJ who had the graveyard shift. Eli did not stick around to joke with his coworkers as he usually did because he had plans with his best friend, and he did not want to keep her waiting. Normally not known for his punctuality, Eli thought this was a rather great improvement of his attempt to be an adult.
Apparating out of Hogsmeade and to his home of Diagon Alley, Eli headed not to the direction of his flat, but towards the Leaky Cauldron which, against all odds, had stood the test of time and was now considered to be a historical landmark among wizards, although the pub and inn had a strong 'dive bar' feel to it. Call him crazy, but Eli liked the torn plush seats, forever sticky counters and the mild musty odor in the air. This place had character; and for being hundreds of years old, it was decently well-kept up.
Opening the heavy door, Eli stepped inside, pausing a moment to let his eyes adjust to the dark lighting. He scanned the room before spotting a familiar head of long red hair. He bounded over to her, sitting down in the seat opposite hers. "Béatriz, you live!" Although they were flatmates, with his working second shift and her busy Quidditch schedule, it wasn't uncommon to go a couple days throughout the week without seeing each other, so it was nice to catch up like this on the weekends with a few pints.
Elias had befriended Béatriz early on in their first year at Hogwarts. They had the perfect Gryffindor-Hufflepuff friendship, and they caused quite a bit of trouble in school, goofing off in class and probably just being all-around nuisances to the duller students of Hogwarts. By this point, he considered Bea family, and she was like another sister of his. He had been worried upon graduating that he and his best mates would drift apart once they all began their respective careers, so Eli liked to make a point of having fun nights out like this with his friends.
"So how's life?" He asked her, leaning back in his seat. "How's Quidditch? Think the Cannons will finally end their losing streak with you on the team?" Elias paused to wave over a barmaid to order a drink. "I still haven't forgiven you for not joining the Appleby Arrows, by the way. I know, I know, out of your control, but what good is having your best friend be a Quidditch star if she can't score you season tickets to your favorite team?" He grinned cheekily at Béatriz as this was not the first... or even the third time that he had brought up this particular subject. He did it now mostly to mess with her. The barmaid approached their table soon after, and Elias ordered a refreshing pint of ale. Merlin, was he happy it was the weekend.

It's Friday night & I won't be long Quidditch was unrelenting. Bea was over the moon with excitement for the season ACTUALLY coming to a close, which meant that the upcoming season meant STARTING POSITIONS. For she and Coralie Grant both, she hoped. She had been working hard for the past three months while they finished up the season, and cheered on (reluctantly, because he still made her angrier than house elves in slavery) her team captain. The deaf/mute was kind of an ass, but you had to be blind to say that he wasn’t a good player. She knew she was learning from the best, even if she wanted to throw him the sign for “f-off” more often than not. It would all be worth it in the end, wouldn’t it? Yes. Yes it would.
And early quidditch practices meant that she usually had the evening off to do whatever she pleased, which unfortunately led her straight to her bed and down for the count. More often than not… which really wasn’t what she expected when she graduated from Hogwarts and moved in with her best friend, Elias. The two had been hard to separate the moment that they met in their first year at school, and even though their schedules were keeping them apart post-graduation, they knew they’d always find time for one another.
There was a time, maybe in third or fourth year, when Bea may or may not have developed a little crush on Elias- well, how could anyone blame her? He was (and still is) very cute, funny, and the best friend that she’d ever had, and she had three younger sisters (well, considering them friends was kind of a joke in itself). Of course, this was something that Bea hadn’t ever told Elias, but there was a good chance he knew… or someone told him. And… if he did know, he never held that against her, which she appreciated. But it seemed that then they would be together forever and while Bea’s opinion of Elias changed, her thought that they’d be best friends forever hadn’t. Which was why, even though she was dead-tired and probably had the worst dark circles under her eyes, she made a showing when she told him she would. Bea would probably do anything for Elias.
The Leaky Cauldron was kind of… cool. Bea didn’t frequent it, mainly because of the people who chose to frequent it, but she did like the atmosphere, and the fact that it had been around for hundreds of years. She made a point to be early, ordered a drink, and found herself a seat at one of the booths with the torn, plush seats. One would think that with magic they would have fixed the seats long ago- but she wondered if they kept it for its dive-bar vibe. Bea didn’t mind. And she minded even less when she heard Elias’ voice, her ears perking up at the sound.
”More like, you live!” she grinned, waving as he sat down opposite her. She rolled her eyes as he spoke, resisting the urge to reach over and smack him on the arm. She had been offered a bid to play for the Arrows, but the Cannons were seriously an offer she couldn’t refuse. And the captain was a great player, and it was really an honor to be considered, let alone offered a position. ”Well, it pains me to hear that you aren’t interested in season tickets to watch your best friend kick ass on the pitch,” she shook her head, her red hair swishing against her back as she did so. ”I guess you’ll have to just settle for matches where we play them. Although, I will hold it against you if you cheer for them over me.” she winked, tossing a laugh alongside it. made by jellyfish princess @ adoxography

| Elias knew that the dynamic with his friends was bound to change after graduation. At Hogwarts, he had seen and hung out with his friends pretty much every single day. Now, a whole week could go by without his seeing one friend. That was weird to get used to, especially for Eli. He loved being around people, but with everyone's crazy and different schedules, there would be some days where he would only see his co-workers. This summer, Eli had spent the majority of his free time with Alice before she went back to Hogwarts for her final year. With Bea busy with Quidditch, Eli saw Alice the most out of all his friends. Although Bea and Alice were two of his best friends, the dynamic was completely different with each of them. Eli had always seen Béatriz as family - like another sister, and he felt one hundred percent comfortable around her. But Alice, as amazing of a friend as she was, made him feel nervous and strange - and, well, he definitely did not see her as a sister.
Not knowing many other professional Quidditch players, Eli would certainly take whatever tickets he could get, unless it was to see the Wimbourne Wasps. He despised that team, and would have had to seriously question his friendship with Bea if she had been a Chaser for them. Fortunately, she played for the Chudley Cannons, a team whom Elias did not mind watching. "Hey, if you're offering season tickets to go watch you play every game, then I will become your number one fan," he said, grinning at her. "I'll build a shrine for you and everything."
Eli smirked when Bea said that she would hold it against him if he cheered for the Appleby Arrows over her. "Oh, I'll still cheer for you, but my Arrows scarf will be proudly displayed around my neck, and there's nothing you can do about that." Although he was smiling, Eli was not entirely joking. He may not be very good at playing the sport, but he took his Quidditch-spectating extremely seriously.
Once the barmaid left after Eli gave his order, he leaned back against the seat cushion in the booth, and asked Bea, "Besides Quidditch, how's life? Got a new love interest? Listen to any good music lately?" Because he had been so busy with work and hanging out with Alice, he felt like he had hardly spent any time with his roommate. And, speaking of... "Also, now that I've got you here, what do you think about having a pet at our flat? Like, specifically, the cutest puppy in the world?" He looked at her with pleading, innocent eyes, as if he were asking for permission and hadn't already gotten the dog in question.
